Osteoporosis affects millions every year with 80% being women. Weight-bearing exercises are key to reducing the risk of osteoporosis because bones contain osteocytes that act as strain sensors which then signal to activate osteoblasts which are responsible for bone strengthening. These exercises should be done two or three times per week to produce the greatest gains.
